Fun story: I heard about and booked UPDL in Fall 2018. About a month after booking, my phone storage was getting low so I went through my photos to delete any unwanted photos. While going through my photos, I found a picture I had saved from Pinterest in March of 2018. It was a photo of the dining lodge! When I saved that picture (6 months before even hearing about the dining lodge), I had absolutely no idea what the building was or that it was in my area. I think they might call that fate! My favorite part about the venue is that I didn't feel like it needed much decorating, it's just so pretty by itself. I also loved how much space it had to offer. I would absolutely recommend this venue. - Aspen Eckert, 2019

We love West Yellowstone and fell in love with the Union Pacific Dining Lodge photos online when we first started searching for venues. We adored the woodsy, openness of the venue. The lights that illuminate the main hall and the large fireplace were our favorite parts! We would totally recommend this venue. - Ivana Micic & Ricky Mundt, 2019

After a few searches online for wedding venues, we saw a photo of the amazing fireplace. After reviewing the amenities the Dining Lodge offers, we decided this was going to be our top choice. On top of that, we were happy to learn that the UP Dining Lodge is part of the museum in West Yellowstone, which functions as a non-profit organization. We loved that our expenditure would go towards maintenance of the Dining Lodge.  - Chiachi Hwang & Michael Wainwright, 2019

We loved the historical beauty and sense of awe. The ambiance was spectacular, with the ceiling lights and fireplaces going. Other venues had pretty outdoor areas but couldn't match the uniqueness. We would absolutely recommend the venue. It worked out perfectly for our needs and the staff at the venue was great to work with. - Jessica Purdy & Eric Burg, 2019

I know it sounds crazy, but my favorite memory of renting the Union Pacific Dining Lodge (besides marrying my husband of course) was the morning of the wedding. I was in the venue all by myself early in the morning. I got to take a few minutes to sit and listen to the rain patter on the windows and just drink in the magnificence of the building. You can tell that the walls are just ripe with age old secrets waiting to be told and that in a few short hours from that moment, mine and my husbands story would soon be woven into the walls to join all the stories that came before ours. I really treasure the opportunity to be a part of the history of such an amazing place. - Julianna & Justin Freeman, 2018

Our favorite aspect of the Union Pacific Dining Lodge was the building itself and the nature that surrounded it. Our photos inside the building as well as our outdoor sunset photos looked amazing. Also, it was great that our wedding could be in one venue for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Our guests didn’t have to travel to another location. We would absolutely recommend this venue! The staff is great to work with and extremely helpful. Also, the unique building and look of the venue is worth it! - Shannon Kihorany & Johnathan Erickson, 2018

The ease of use of not only the venue itself but what was included with the cost of the rental was incomparable to other venues all over Gallatin Valley.  The rental package information is clear and concise.  They set clear boundaries and expectations, but are reasonable in their asks of those hosting events too.  Aside from the sheer beauty of the space, the staff made the rental of the building one of the most stress-free components of the wedding planning process. - CeCe & Joey Renick, 2018

For some time I have been intending to write to you to congratulate you on the magnificent building that the Union Pacific has erected at West Yellowstone to house its feeding establishment. The new dining hall is one of the most attractive buildings that I have seen in or near a National Park. I was amazed at its proportions, its attractive exterior, its convenient arrangement for handling guests, and other very admirable features. - Horace Albright to Carl Gray, 1925, YHC Collections

We loved the grandness of the space! The place is very well-maintained to keep its historical beauty. The mammoth room was perfect for our ceremony and reception, and the Firehole room worked wonderfully for our bar/rehearsal dinner as well as the last-minute indoor wedding picture area due to an incoming storm. The entire Dining Lodge was just amazing, with the huge windows and fireplace in the main room to the recently updated bar area and bathrooms, and the nicely-sized bridal ready-room.  All of the amenities were great! The kitchen was huge with two refrigerators that we used for food and flowers, as well as had the 800 lb. ice maker that saved us a lot of money on ice. The bridal suite was a great size. We had a large bridal party, so the groom's party used it to get ready earlier in the day, and then the entire bridal party was in and out of it right before the ceremony started and we all had plenty of space. The tables and chairs worked great. It was really nice to have multiple table size options for the design of our wedding, and the white chairs looked really good. The bar area was perfect, with its large, long counters and pass-through area that made it not feel closed off from the rest of the space. - Katherine & Chris Acosta, 2018

We decided on the venue for its historic and iconic beauty and location. What we liked most were the fireplaces and old wooden beams, the history of the building, and the gorgeous rock walls. We would absolutely recommend this venue. It was an amazing venue. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and our event. We used the bar and had the Holiday Inn cater our event. The food and drinks were fabulous! Both fireplaces being lit was extremely inviting. The overall charm of the venue was exactly what we were looking for. We had 200 people in attendance plus a full bank and there was plenty of room. The facilities accommodated all of us with no problem. We had a buffet and the set up was beautiful, the staff was amazing, and everything went off without a hitch. We had Karst Stage Buses drop us off in the rear of the building and there was plenty of room for them to turn around and park. - Julie Ouzts, STRIMA, 2017

We chose the venue because it is just perfect. We have a history with the building, including our 10 year reunion, weddings, and other friends have had events there. We also like to support our local economy. I have recommended this venue to others. It is very reasonable and one of the best buildings I have ever been in. Everything was perfect. - Mike Mease, Buffalo Field Campaign, 2017

We chose the UPDL for our wedding because we wanted somewhere for our family and friends from all over Montana to meet and spend the weekend together. West Yellowstone was the perfect town from hotels, restaurants and bars. The Union Pacific is such a beautiful and unique building that really does not need much decoration because the building speaks for itself. The fireplaces and windows were my favorite features of the venue. I would highly recommend this venue. All of the amenities of the building were sufficient (keeping in mind that it is an old building). - April and Cole Myers, 2017

The Union Pacific Dining Lodge was recommended to me by the Buffalo Field Campaign, which is located just outside of town. The group has had events in the past at the Lodge so I checked it out. I was blown away as soon as I walked into the place and knew this is where I wanted to host my event. The sheer size of the Lodge, combined with the wood beams, stone walls and gigantic fireplaces at each end of the building, provides a unique rustic charm. Not only is the Dining Lodge in an excellent location, the staff are very helpful. The amenities at the Lodge have only gotten better over the years. The tables and chairs are better than the old ones, and the kitchen is a vast place to prep foods. - Brett Haverstick, Speak for Wolves, 2017
